Unlike most parts of your electrical infrastructure, a Power Factor Correction system is designed to save you money, either by reducing your kVA and subsequently your current load, or by eliminating penalty charges imposed by your electricity retailer.
In order to do this it needs to be in full working order at all times. In contrast to other parts of your plant, if the Power Factor Correction system is not in full working order it will not be immediately apparent, and unless you are paying close attention to your power bills you will be unaware of this. The only way that you can ensure that your Power Factor system is in full working order at all times is to have it regularly serviced. At kVArCorrect we are able to offer servicing of all brands of Power Factor Correction systems, not only our own. We are the only company in New Zealand specialising in this field and our expert team have been involved in this work for many years. We design, build, install, service and repair all systems. We stock quality KBR capacitors from Germany to carry out any repairs that may be required. In order to carry out this work we have a range of specialist test equipment that will allow us to ensure full operation of components. In addition we can carry out power analysis and identify any issues, such as Power Factor or Harmonics, that may be affecting your plant operation. A normal service will take from 45 to 90 minutes. During the service all components will be tested for correct operation and any faults or potential problems will be identified. The cooling systems will be tested and cleaned, and all electrical terminations will checked for correct torque. During the service your normal plant operations will not be affected and measures will be taken to ensure that the power factor is kept within limits in order to eliminate penalty charges imposed by your electricity retailer at that time. On completion a full written report will be supplied. Carrying out a service of your equipment will save you money, both in eliminating excess power usage and penalty charges and avoiding expensive repair bills in the future.
